Recently the television show 20/20 aired
a program about the seriousness of allergic reactions to
some bedding. This can be devastating to the health of the
Chiropractic patient. Most people spend 1/3 of their life
in their beds and if this environment is a constant source
of stress and irritation, health is an almost impossible
achievement.
The bedding consumer has little knowledge of what to look
for to best prevent allergies and irritations. Most do not
realize that formaldehyde may be used in the making of the
foam. This chemical may be useful in preserving dead tissue
but it can be extremely harmful to the living.
Many mattresses are sealed in protective plastic. Though
this protects the bed's surface, it can also be a perfect
environment for mold and bacteria. Both are not easily detected
and can be a constant undermining to the consumer's health.
The cover, or ticking on the mattress is usually treated
with a chemical that makes the surface fire retardant. This
is a law and extremely important, but some of these chemicals
can be overly harsh.
Chiro-Matic has been aware of and has
addressed these issues for many years. Our lumbar and
cortex
pads are made of a natural coconut fiber. These pads benefit
the support system without the need for chemicals. Our
foam
is never processed with formaldehyde or other high-irritating
solutions. The cover fabric is made of a silk fiber that
meets the flame retardant laws but is gentle to the skin.
It is also quilted in a small onion design allowing air
to flow evenly to the body. The Chiro-Matic
sleep systems are made only a short time before the scheduled
delivery of the bedding. This prevents the bedding from
spending prolonged periods in a warehouse where germs and
mold can grow. The mattresses and box springs are packaged
in a special plastic with micro-openings which allows the
bedding to breathe but prevents foreign particles from
entering.
On our twenty years of service we have never been informed
of a patient suffering from an allergic reaction to our
bedding. We have always manufactured our products with the
utmost integrity and pride ourselves on being forerunners
in bedding research and advancement.
