While the best mattress for each individual depends on many factors, including the medical condition that is causing your pain, generally if you have a problem with your spine or specific joints, you will need to make sure the foundation of the mattress is strong and supporitve and that the materials that make up the top layers of the bed, are pressure relievikng and conform to the curves of your body. The comfrort layers that are at the top and closest to the body will do most of the work relieving your joint pressure. There are many types of foam that are pressure relieving such as latex, gel and memory foam. Latex and gel products are made of all natural matrerials and are great at relieving pressure while providing proper spinal support. For the cover, you will want to choose breathable soft fabrics like cotton, knits or cashmere as opposed to tougher fibers like jaquard or damask as they will allow you to take better advantage of the pressure relieving properties in the foam. You can certainly choose an all latex bed, but a hybrid will also do the trick and save you some money. If you choose a hybrid with springs, go with pocketed coils that are move more easily with the body. If you don't like the bouncability or squeakiness of springs or you don't want to feel your partner moving in the bed, go with a hyhbrid wiht a strong core. For comfort, choose luxury plush, medium or a pillow top with a cloudlike luxurious feel.
